Since a broader range of performance has come to be required for PWB inspection in the mounting process nowadays, the performance and functions sought in inspection systems have also diversified. Recently, importance is placed not simply on the control of defective parts, but also on the function for confirming the conditions of the mounting process in the case where the product shipped after the mounting process has been found to be defective in the market (traceability performance).
Although the performance of an inspection system does not directly improve product quality, Sony believes it important to effectively use the inspection system for improving product quality. Sony‘s PWB visual inspection machine, which responds to the demands of the new era while inheriting the performance of conventional inspection systems, pursues the functions and performance necessary for wafer PWB inspection based on the know-how and experience of the production site.

Increased inspection speed with large FOV
2 mega pixel color CCD camera is equipped for capturing images. While maintaining high definition with 15.5μm resolution, the field of view (FOV) has been enlarged to 24.8mm x 18.6mm to enhance both accuracy and the speed of inspection.(11μm/FOV 17.6mm x 13.2mm:high resolution)
Stable inspection with low vibration
High repeatability stopping accuracy has been accomplished via the use of highly rigid cast iron frames and Magnescale¨ (inhouse products). Operational noise is reduced substantially for stable inspection.
Flexibility required in the mounting process
Equipped with a linear motor to drive the X-axis, the SI-V200 is not only the most compact unit in this class, but also capable of inspecting L-size boards (460mmx510mm) with just an 850mm long conveyor. Therefore, this single unit can handle both M and L boards.
